DU Spirituals Director Is ‘Dreaming Of A Black Christmas’ With CPR Classical’s Playlist Of Black Spirituals For The Season
“Several times during CPR Classical's Sound of the Season this month, we will be airing "Shout for Joy! African American Spirituals and Music for Christmas." This show grew out of my desire for a deeper exploration of our country's full musical heritage, especially critical in light of this year's extraordinary events. My guest on the show is M. Roger Holland II, a former member of the Harlem Boys Choir who has also collaborated with several of the artists featured on “Shout for Joy!” He now teaches African American Music and directs the Spirituals Project Choir at the University of Denver.
